Mesh Wi-Fi kits use wireless backhaul between nodes to extend coverage without cabling. They're easy to deploy and great where running cables isn't practical, but each wireless hop reduces throughput and adds latency.
Dedicated access points with wired backhaul deliver the best, most consistent performance - each AP has its own gigabit link back to the switch, so there's no throughput loss between nodes. For large or double-storey homes with concrete and steel, wired APs are the superior long-term choice.
In practice we often combine both: wired access points for the main house, and a mesh node for an outbuilding or pool area where cabling isn't feasible. A heat-map survey determines the right mix for your property.
